Who Is Steve Rosen?
One time Strictly Rhythm GM, co founder of MAW Records, and longtime label manager for Henry Street Music, and R-senal Records, Steve began his career on the road with the likes of King Crimson, Simple Minds, and the Psychedelic Furs. In 1985 he founded 23 West Entertainment, which successfully launched the careers of C&C Music Factory, Masters at Work, and a pantheon of dance music icons.
Equally comfortable in the studio, he also produces music for TV and film. His credits include six seasons as composer of HBO’s groundbreaking series OZ, with longtime production partner and co-owner of Bass Hit Recording, Dave Darlington. www.davedarlington.com.
In 2002 Roger Sanchez introduced Steve to up and coming producer Jesse Houk, aka The Scumfrog. The chemistry was immediate, and although their relationship started with management, it soon grew into a partnership.
In 2003 they founded Effin Records, which, in its short history, has released some of house music’s most influential recordings. www.effinmusic.com.
Effin’s latest effort, DJs Are Alive, features five of dance music’s most talented and charismatic personalities playing live house music. It sounds like dance, but it looks like rock & roll www.djsarealive.com, www.myspace.com/djsarealive
